How did I get interested in fashion?

When I was younger, maybe ‘bout 12 or 13 years old, we always have TIME magazines in our house. My dad is a loyal subscriber and he even bought us those limited edition Time Jackets, Dictionaries and Atlases. Because of that are family became really updated with international news and events. My dad once said that one of the most important time of the day is when you are able to read or hear news about things around you, we were raised to be aware and sure of what’s happening out there.

Sometimes Time Magazine have these special edition issues called Time: Style & Design. I remember, I got really excited when I saw it because I was really getting sick of reading about wars happening around the world and how every country’s politics is fucked up. If I can remember it right, I think it’s the east meets west issue. So I was browsing the magazine, and that’s the first time I found out that those Designer brands’ products are so expensive, like even if I save some money for 5 years I will surely won’t  buy any of those (I don’t like spending too much in one item).

I came across this article about how designers are now coping their designs and ideas with one of their biggest consumers: the Middle Eastern women. And they showed a runway look from Balenciaga RTW Fall 2006. And I was really drawn with it’s design and how simple and chic it was.

To be interested with style and clothing were very new to me that time. I was really impressed with the styling and I imagined a world where Middle Eastern women will be able to wear this, everyone will be so chic, their fashion will become more interesting. I quickly went online, searched for the collection and fell in love with it. After that, all I can think of is fashion, fashion, and fashion.

I became my family’s personal stylist, shopper and shopping buddy. I also became a style consultant for my sister when she was still making dresses, she consulted me on what to add, if it looks good, I tried editing it to perfection. But now with a Diploma in BSN, I’m really interested now in the medical field. How did I end up studying nursing? That’s a a long story, maybe I’ll type it next time:)
